The New World of Electronic Wills

 Presented by: Jeffrey A. Baskies & Jenna G. Rubin

An exploration of the pros and cons of e-will executions in Florida.  The presentation will focus on the process of executing a will online under Florida’s “new” e-wills statute, including video clips of an actual (albeit mock) e-will execution ceremony.  The presenters will share their experience with the statute and the practical applications of the e-will signing, with an emphasis on the many challenges and potential pitfalls. 

Jeffrey A. Baskies, Esq.,  is a native of Peabody, MA and a graduate of Trinity College (highest honors) and Harvard Law School (cum laude).  A member of the Florida and Massachusetts bars, Jeff is a co-founding partner of Katz Baskies & Wolf PLLC, located in Boca Raton, Florida, concentrating on trusts and estates, tax and business law. Jeff is board certified by the Florida Bar as an expert/specialist in Wills, Trusts and Estates law. He is also a fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (ACTEC).   Jeff has published more than 150 articles on estate planning, and Jeff is the successor author of the treatise, Estate, Gift, Trust, and Fiduciary Tax Returns, annually published by Thomson/Reuters/West.

Jenna G. Rubin, Esq., is a partner at Gutter Chaves Josepher Rubin Forman Fleisher Miller P.A. in Boca Raton, Florida. She focuses her practice on probate, trust and guardianship litigation as well as probate and trust administration and estate planning. She is a graduate of Harvard Law School and Northwestern University and is an active member of the Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Section, currently serving as the chair of the Elective Share Review Committee and as a Vice Chair of the Trust Law Committee and the Ad Hoc Committee on Electronic Wills.  Jenna is a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (ACTEC).
